Dwyfor
Welcome to the Dwyfor class. This is a class of 7 mischievous, fun and enthusiastic learners aged 11-16 who enjoy discovering, exploring and experimenting!
We follow the experimental learning path in this class, which means that we focus on the core skills of the learners; communication, Independence and Creativity. We will learn through visual and sensory activities.
The main focus of this class is to encourage and provide opportunities for the learners to communicate independently; in the class, outside in the community and beyond. Fostering and developing independence and life skills is very important to us, and we will ensure opportunities to apply the skills daily in our class, in order to prepare the learners for life beyond school.
Dwyfor learners love sensory sessions that target the 5 senses. We enjoy sensory sessions and attention autism following different themes weekly. We enjoy a fun story session, followed by activities based on the theme.
Play is also a very important part of learning. Our learners will learn through play, individually, and by sharing a play space with a fellow learner.
Sessions in the sensory rooms are very important for our learners. These rooms not only give the learners opportunities to relax, but also support sensory development and cause and effect awareness. There are weekly opportunities for the learners to receive rebound therapy sessions, hydro therapy and sensory circuit.
Our intention in this class is to foster valuable experiences, enjoyment in everyday learning and memories to treasure.
